There are two ways in. Apply with a few lines about yourself, or be put forward by a member who knows your work. The Office of the Forum reads every request and replies personally, and a request on a colleague’s behalf is just as welcome.

There is no application fee and no membership fee. There never has been, and there never will be.

Each member gives back in a way that suits them, whether by mentoring, sharing what they know, or opening a door for someone.

Membership is kept private, and members are not listed in public.

The fields range widely, from the laboratory bench to the clinic and the lecture hall.

Every member is welcome at the annual Biomedical Forum gathering, where the community meets and finds new ways to make an impact.

More about the gatherings

Once a year the Forum gathers in Croatia. Members meet, network, and find concrete ways to advance Croatian biomedicine, from mentorships and hosting Accelerator students and scientists to lecturing at Plexus, opening doors, and generating new ideas together.

Members gather for talks and unhurried conversation on the latest developments in biomedicine and on the work of the Forum’s own members, with dedicated time to meet, to network, and to shape practical ways to help Croatian biomedicine grow.

Each December, during Plexus week, members also gather within the wider Med&X community, at the Plexus Conference and at the Plexus Gala, where the Med&X annual award for contributions to Croatian biomedicine is presented.

In December 2026 the Forum holds an info session at the Plexus Conference (4–5 December, Hrvatski državni arhiv, Zagreb, Croatia) for anyone who would like to join. The time will be posted here.

What the Forum is

Founded in 2026 as a program of Med&X.

A global network of Croatians in biomedicine, at home and abroad: students and early-career researchers, clinicians, scientists, people in industry, and senior leaders.

Members are Croatian by origin anywhere in the world, or work in biomedicine in Croatia. Their shared purpose is to accelerate the development of Croatian biomedicine.

Members connect across fields, borders and career stages, and find concrete ways to work together. Little is asked of a member beyond a wish to help Croatian biomedicine move forward.

Find collaborators

Members find each other across fields and countries, for research, clinical work and new projects.

Mentor or be mentored

Members early in their careers find guidance, and more experienced members give their time. They host Accelerator students and scientists, lecture at Plexus, and advise young researchers.

Hear about opportunities and events

Members hear about opportunities and events across the network, from Plexus Week and Building Bridges to the Annual Forum.

Give back to science in Croatia

Together, members look for concrete ways to advance Croatian biomedicine, at home and in its ties with leading institutions abroad, for the benefit of both.

How the Forum is organized

The Forum is founded and run by Med&X. It is led by its President, guided by an Honorary Council of senior figures, and made up of its members.

The Honorary Council

Senior figures of the highest standing in Croatian and international biomedicine sit on the Honorary Council. Its members are being confirmed, and will be announced in the autumn of 2026, ahead of Plexus 2026.

The Forum’s members are its heart: Croatians in biomedicine at every career stage, from students to senior leaders, in Croatia and across the world, each bringing their experience to the development of Croatian biomedicine.
