Gather the documents on the checklist below. Write your motivation letter and ask for a recommendation letter early.

Fill in the form, upload your documents and pay the €75 processing fee, by card or bank transfer. Choose up to two programs.
Review and interview
We score your documents first. The highest-scoring candidates are invited to interview with two members of the selection board.
Decision and onboarding
Every candidate hears the decision. Selected candidates sign an agreement with Med&X and get ready to travel.

- Proof of Croatian citizenshipAn official document, such as a domovnica.
- CV, for example on the Europass form
- Proof of student status in an eligible study programWhich programs are eligible depends on the institution.
- ECTS credits earned in the previous academic year
- Weighted grade average so far, or a transcript with your ECTS credits
- Foreign language certificate, B2 or higherOr proof you passed the state matura exam in that language at the higher level.

- Motivation letterUp to 700 words, Calibri 12, single spacing.
- Recommendation letter: at least one, at most twoTwo letters give no extra points. The quality of the letter counts.

Who can apply
- Croatian citizens.
- Senior students at a Croatian university.
- English at B2 level or higher.
Years, credits and studying abroad
Senior students at a Croatian university: 4th year or higher of a 6-year program, 3rd year or higher of a 5-year program, master’s students and PhD students. At least 60 ECTS last academic year (integrated and master’s students).

Scoring rules
Two phases. Your documents first, then an interview. The total decides.
- Bonus points for papers, conference abstracts, awards and editorial work come on top.
- Two recommendation letters? Only the better one counts. More than two scores zero.
- Ties go to the higher year of study, then the higher interview score.
- Some institutions run their own interview and choose for themselves.

Financial support
€800–€1,000per fellow, last round
How support works
Selected fellows receive partial financial support from Med&X, paid in two instalments: before departure and after the program. The amount is set in the agreement with Med&X.
Last round, the support was €800 to €1,000 per fellow. Fellows cover the rest.

Can I apply before 1 November?
No. Prepare your documents and turn on notifications in the Med&X app. We tell you when applications open.
How many programs can I apply for?
Up to two. Each has its own ranking. Choosing more than two, or a program you do not qualify for, voids the whole application.
How much is the processing fee?
€75. Pay by card in the app, or by bank transfer and upload the proof in the app. You find the bank details with the documents checklist.
I study abroad. Can I apply?
If you are a Croatian citizen, yes, with the committee’s approval. Write to accelerator@medx.hr before you apply.
Can my referee send the letter directly?
Yes. Your referee emails it to accelerator@medx.hr. Tick that option in the app.
What happens at the interview?
You have two separate interviews, each with one member of the selection board, by video or in person. We agree the time with you. Missing it without notice scores zero.
How will I see the results?
Rankings show a personal code, not your name. We email you your code. You have at least 24 hours to appeal each ranking and the decision.
Can I withdraw?
Yes, at any time before the decision, with no consequences.
Can I apply again?
Yes, unless you already signed an agreement with Med&X for an earlier stay.

About Marija
Neuroscientist, Boston Children's Hospital & Harvard Medical School
Marija leads the Accelerator across the whole journey, from the first question through selection, host matching, travel, and the collaborations that follow. She holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and is a board-certified music therapist whose research explores music and the brain. Host labs and sponsors can reach her directly.
